5 Surprisingly Simple Ways to Grow Your Profit by Carol Wain

The full title of the book by Carol Wain is

5 Surprisingly Simple Ways to Grow Your Profit: Using the F.O.R.C.E. Formula™

In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it 3 Stars.

Here is my review.

An introduction to her FORCE training and coaching

I’d feel much happier about this short book if it was free of charge. Basically it is a long explanation of the author’s FORCE training and coaching programmes with a sample tip included from each main stage.

F = Foundation – tip is about what Michael Gerber called your Primary Aim in The E-Myth Revisited. It also includes what I cal the Stop Start More Less process for improvement.

O = Operations – tip is about cross selling and up selling. Find your “do you want fries?” question.

R = Reach – tip is about host beneficiary arrangements and strategic alliances i.e. working with other businesses to reach deeper into your existing market or to enter new markets.

C = Customer Experience – tip is about understanding what customers value and following up after a sale.

E = Employee Experience – tip is to improve your culture.

The individual tips are all helpful. You probably know the ideas but have you put them into action? The drawback is that because she’s picked one from each stage, it’s scattered rather than focused and that makes it hard to recommend to anyone who isn’t interested in learning more about the services provided by the author.

The author is very good at making easy to remember acronyms and I liked this one she mentions in the book, the SUPER business transformation process where:
S = Stop doing what no longer works.
U = Understand how you got here and what you need to change to get there.
P = Plan your transformation.
E = Execute your plan.
R = Readjust as necessary.

I have given a previous book by the author, Guerrilla Tourism Marketing a five star review but she has decided to broaden out of that niche.

There are much better books on how to increase your profit which are more comprehensive. For example Double Your Business. If allowed half stars, I’d rate this at 2.5 stars for the price, 3 stars if it was free. I’ve been kind and rounded up.
