In my review of Eliyahu Goldratt’s book
The Race

Here is what I wrote.
The Goal told you what to do and why, The Race tells you how to do it
This is the companion book to The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement. If you loved your introduction to the Theory of Constraints when you read the novel, this is an obvious next step to put meat onto the bones of the ideas introduced. [continue reading…]

The third excellent One Minute Manager book
This is the third One Minute Manager book I recommend without hesitation. The others are the update of the original book The New One Minute Manager (The One Minute Manager) and The One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey (The One Minute Manager).
The original book introduced a simple model based on management by goals/objectives. The Monkey book stops delegation going badly wrong as you try to e supportive in the wrong way. This book introduces situational leadership although it’s probably more accurate to call it situational management. [continue reading…]

A great reference book on marketing, even if it is dull
I’ve had this book for many years and I haven’t used it as often as I should.
It’s not the sort of book you start reading on page 1 and go through to the end. It’s too dull but it’s not meant to be used in that way. [continue reading…]

An important book to read even if you can’t change the inequalities in the system
This book is a revelation and many people have raved about it to me but I read the follow-up, Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant first and that summarises the key messages in this book and goes further.
I love the way this book teaches the fundamentals about money in a very compelling way. Finance and investing should not be thought of as a boring subject and something to leave to others. [continue reading…]

A legendary book about marketing. It’s old but much of it is still extremely relevant.
Generally this book is better known as the Mr X book.
The origins are controversial. The story told is that one of Abraham’s best clients and most diligent students spotted an opportunity of sharing the Abraham money-making secrets with small businesses who couldn’t afford the $5,000 to $25,000 courses. He poured over his extensive course notes and eventually produced the book, started to offer it to the public and inevitably there was a big dispute with Abraham who recovered his intellectual property.
