Hope Won’t Pay the Wages by Andrew R Miller – 5 Stars

The full title of this book by Andrew Miller is

Hope Won’t Pay the Wages: How to deal with the personal impact of a struggling business“.

In my review at Amazon.co.uk, I gave it the full FIVE Stars, meaning I consider the book to be excellent.

Here it is.

A great help for struggling business owners

There are plenty of books about how a business in trouble can be turned around but this is the first book I’ve seen that focuses on the business owner.

The author was an insolvency practitioner with KPMG and he also worked in the specialist department of a high street bank.

In this book, he has interviewed many owners of failed businesses about their experiences, both good and bad. As well as the author’s own words, there are plenty of lengthy quotes from the owners.

Obviously this is a very stressful period but all the owners regarded it as a massive learning experience.

You and the business are separate and there are many sources of advice for the business but little support for the business owner going through the trauma. This book helps to fill that gap and it will be comforting to know that your conflicted thoughts are not yours alone.

It’s excellent but it refers readers to a website that sells athletic shoes and Google suggests it might have been hacked.

It is available to buy from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com. It is also available to borrow under the Kindle Unlimited subscription at Amazon.co.uk.
