Short guide to your website packed with common sense
This book won’t take you long to read, probably between 30 to 60 minutes but it will lead you into taking action on your website, whether it’s a new one with blank pages or an existing, under-performing one.
I agree with much of what it says about the purpose and contents for your home page, about pages, products and services page etc.
I’d have liked to have seen more guidance for writing for Google. I agree with the author that you don’t want to get engaged in an artificial fight with the search engines where you do artificial stuff for a short term reward and long term penalty. However you do need to signal your relevance to the search terms you want to target and that means doing the easy things Google pays attention to.
I also think consideration should have been given to landing pages for paid traffic but you’ll need to top up your learning elsewhere . Nor does it tell you how to write your sales pages. I recommend you read The Brain Audit by Sean d’Souza.
For the price, I’m being unfair with these criticisms which would belong to a more expensive book. This is a very good book to get you to start writing when you’re unsure what to write about.
