Is What You Do Efficient & Effective?

I’m watching the promotional content for a new product launch called Profit Hacks which is all about helping Internet entrepreneurs to get more done in less time.

This is very relevant to me as I spend a significant proportion of my working time information marketing.

It’s got me thinking about what I do and the way that I do it.

And I don’t like what I see very much.

I did the triage assessment from the course and my results were horrible. This is a questionnaire that asks you questions about tasks that help to create and promote information based products. I scored very badly.

There was so much that I could see that I could and should be doing but I wasn’t doing it.

And what I did do hasn’t been leveraged very well.

I didn’t have time to do more.

I had too many activities that I did without much thinking about the answers to some key questions:

  • What am I trying to achieve?
  • Is this the best way to achieve that aim?
  • Can I do what I do better or faster?
  • Do I need different resources and technology to improve what I do?
  • Do I even know what technology options there are?
  • Can I take what I do and get bigger results by doing a little more?

Many of my actions were governed by habit and routine.

I just did.

The Profit Hacks promotional material and the course itself (as an affiliate I’ve been given a review copy) has made me think about these things.

In particular, it has made me think about the HOW.

My advice to you is to ask yourself whether what you do is efficient and effective?

(If you’re not sure of the difference, effective is about the results that you get from the activity, efficiency measures who well you convert inputs into outputs. This means that you can be effective but inefficient. While you get good results, you may use much more time than you need.)

Ask yourself the questions I’ve listed above.

Unless you’re an Information marketing using the Internet, the Profit Hacks course isn’t right for you in my opinion.

But you can learn from the promotion by thinking through what you do and how you do it.
