The full title of this book by Ace McCloud is
Sales: Sales Strategies: The Top 100 Best Ways To Increase Sales
In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it 3 Stars.
Here is my review.
The author is prolific – business, personal self help, health, sports, pets, dating – as a sales book it’s OK
I’m not sure what’s going on here and whether the download I received though the kindle unlimited service is intended or an accident.
What I have is a short book about selling techniques and then a series of bonus books. The author is prolific and writes about just about everything you can think of – business issues, personal self help; health issues, sports, pets, dating…
I counted well over 50 bonus books tagged on at the end and not just subjects that are clearly linked to selling. From the reviews, it’s clear you don’t get these if you buy the physical book and I don’t know if they come supplied with the kindle purchase option.
These extra books are promoted at the start and, at that stage, I hadn’t realised they would be included. Unfortunately it does give the impression of jack of all trades and master of none.
That’s probably unfair here as the author says he has 20 years experience of selling and the big companies he’s worked for have spent thousands to teach him selling skills.
As for the sales book itself, it’s ok. It has some good tips in it bit it’s hardly comprehensive or definitive.
I expected a book with 100 tips to have them numbered bit they aren’t so I’ve no idea whether there are 100 tips. I’m not even sure what the author classes as an individual tip.
The writing style is reasonable without major problems except that I’d have liked shorter paragraphs. It didn’t feel exciting or new but then, I’ve read quite a few books on sales.
A bigger criticism is that the book referred you to videos for extra information. That might seem like a good thing but it assumes you’ve got a live Internet connection, you’re in a situation where you can watch a video and you like watching videos as much or more than reading. I don’t. I read because I can highlight sections I want to re-read and it doesn’t matter if my attention wanders off for a few minutes. The only thing I remember seeing on handling objections, for example, was a link to a video.
I had a look at the marketing book,Marketing: The Top 100 Best Things That You Can Do In Order To Make Money & Be Successful With Marketing as that was one of the bonuses included in my Kindle Unlimited version and I thought that was ok but nothing special.
Considering the high star ratings for both the sales and marketing books, I had a look at the reviewers. I’m sorry to report that this is another case of review spam where reviewers have only or mainly reviewed books by the author, Ace McCloud and incredibly, all the books are amazing and rated at five stars. Take a look for yourself by clicking on the reviewers’ names and you’ll see what I mean. I wouldn’t be surprised if this little group don’t boost each others reviews as well. There are many thousand of business books, you can see the full list of my reviews at Business Books Reviews by Paul Simister (Please click).
