A book about reframing thoughts

The author has been one of my favourite Internet marketing experts for many years. He trained originally as a psychologist and gradually moved into business. He is the inspiration behind “Ask : The counterintuitive online formula to discover exactly what your customers want to buy…create a mass of raving fans…and take any business to the next level” by Ryan Levesque. Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind: Think Rich To Get Rich“.

In my review on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it a rating of Four Stars. This means I consider it to be good to very good.

Here is my review.

Much more insightful than you might expect

Self help books about getting rich, like this one, may make you feel yucky. I know I’m deeply suspicious of anything that looks or sounds like a “get rich quick” scheme designed to feed false hope to poor people and rip money away from them.

That’s how I feel anyway, when I move from sensible business books to “woo woo” psychology. [continue reading…]

If you’re rushed off your feet, this book might be the answer

When I first read read this book in the early 1990s, it was a huge wake-up call.

No wonder there weren’t enough working hours in the day as I allowed my staff’s monkeys to jump onto my shoulders. [continue reading…]

An important book to read even if you can’t change the inequalities in the system

This book is a revelation and many people have raved about it to me but I read the follow-up, Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant first and that summarises the key messages in this book and goes further.

I love the way this book teaches the fundamentals about money in a very compelling way. Finance and investing should not be thought of as a boring subject and something to leave to others. [continue reading…]

The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur by Mike Michalowicz

The full title of this book by Mike Michalowicz is

The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur: The tell-it-like-it-is guide to cleaning up in business, even if you are at the end of your roll.”

In my review on Amazon.co.uk., I gave the book a rating of Four Stars. This means I think it is in the range of good to very good.

Here is my book review.

A hard hitting book about having a “just do it” mental attitude for new entrepreneurs

The analogy about the shortage of toilet paper when needed will take you places you don’t want to go but it does make the point of having to make do when resources are short.

With such an opening, you probably expect the language to be adult in places and it is but I didn’t feel it was overly offensive. [continue reading…]

Think Smarter by Michael Kallett – 5 Stars

The full title of this book by MIchael Kallett is

Think Smarter: Critical Thinking to Improve Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills“.

In my review at Amazon.co.uk, I rated the book at the Five Stars level. I believe it is excellent.

A clear process for making better decisions

I was never really taught how to think at school. By that I mean that I’ve no memory of any teacher explaining a process of how to look at an issue or problem to find the best solution.

As soon as I started managing other people, it became very clear that other people had the same gap in their eduction or were too lazy to put it into action. So much happens without any questioning or things stop because people don’t know how to use their initiative. [continue reading…]

In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I rated this at the Four Stars level. This means I think it is Good and Well Worth Reading.

Here is my book review.

Learn to share problems and solutions from other business owners

It’s only in the last ten years that I have become aware of how powerful mastermind groups can be and this book is a raving endorsement for masterminds. The mastermind concept isn’t that well known in the UK and “Think And Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill doesn’t have the great reputation it does in the USA.

The authors want you to understand that a mastermind group can help you to achieve whatever you want to achieve. [continue reading…]

Profits Aren’t Everything, They’re the Only Thing: No-Nonsense Rules from the Ultimate Contrarian and Small Business Guru by George Cloutier

Business Book Review Rating – 5 Stars

There is nothing in this book that makes me think that author George Cloutier is a nice, warm, cuddly sort of man who I’d want to have a few drinks with one night for light-hearted, amusing company.

To be blunt, he’ comes across as a hard-nosed, business b*stard with ideas from 100 years ago.

He also might just be one of the few people who could rescue and restore your business to profitability if your life depended on it.

I loved the book, even if I didn’t agree with everything. It grabs you by the shoulders and gives you a good hard shake.

His views are so strident that they force you to think about why you are right and he is wrong. In doing so, you might discover that he is right and you are wrong.

I consider it as essential reading for all small business owners and entrepreneurs who are finding business success a struggle to achieve.

The Basic Message Of Profits Aren’t Everything [continue reading…]
