In my review at Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book a Four Stars rating. This puts it in the good to very good category.

Here is my review.

A helpful guide focused on profit improvement.

This is the second time I’ve bought this book. I remembered it as a helpful guide but I couldn’t find my original copy.

This one is in a slightly different format. The book print size is smaller meaning the dimensions of the book can be trimmed. Personally I wish they hadn’t done it because it has made the book harder to read and the margin between the print and the binding is tighter than I’d like. [continue reading…]

Money-Making Secrets of Marketing Genius Jay Abraham and Other Marketing Wizards A No-Nonsense Guide to Great Wealth and Personal Fortune

although it is much better known as the Mr X Book.

In my review at Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book a FIVE STARS rating. This means that I consider it to be excellent.

Here is my book review.

A legendary book about marketing. It’s old but much of it is still extremely relevant.

Generally this book is better known as the Mr X book.

The origins are controversial. The story told is that one of Abraham’s best clients and most diligent students spotted an opportunity of sharing the Abraham money-making secrets with small businesses who couldn’t afford the $5,000 to $25,000 courses. He poured over his extensive course notes and eventually produced the book, started to offer it to the public and inevitably there was a big dispute with Abraham who recovered his intellectual property. In my review at Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book a four stars rating. This means I think it is good.

Here is my book review.

Business advice for women. An innovative system but it requires different thinking

As a man, I’m not the target market for this book which is very much focused on helping women succeed in business.

I’ve read and reviewed a similar book in the past “The Chic Entrepreneur” which I thought was really effective because it gave business lessons through stories.

This also has plenty to offer but it’s very much based around a business model, the 5 Principles of Predictable Profit. [continue reading…]

Summary: The E-Myth Revisited: Review and Analysis of Gerber’s Book

I have a love and hate relationship with the full book, The E-Myth Revisited.

Will the summary have the best bits without the worst? Yes, it’s excellent and I gave the summary a full FIVE stars rating in my review on Amazon.co.uk.

Here is my book summary review.

An excellent summary that gives you the important ideas of Michael Gerber without the irritating bits

I believe The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It is one of the most important small business books ever written. I recently wrote a blog article about the 12 best business books for business owners and it was the first I mentioned. Not because it provides all the answers but it does a great job of highlighting the problems and their causes. [continue reading…]

Summary: E-Myth Mastery: Review and Analysis of Gerber’s Book

I had mixed feelings about the E-Myth Mastery book by Michael Gerber.

When I reviewed the summary on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it a rating of Four Stars, the same as for the full book.

Here is my book review.

Summary without the dreadful bits but light on the good bits

Gerber’s earlier book, “The E-Myth Revisited” was strong on important concepts for business owners but it was light on details. The full version of this book puts that right by sharing important parts of the E Myth coaching course for a fraction of the price.

Unfortunately the full book has a major problem for anyone who found the syrupy story of Sarah and her All About Pies bakery business uncomfortable reading. There is much more here along with other self indulgent nonsense. [continue reading…]

Breeding Gazelles: Fast Growth Strategies For Your Business“.

In my review on Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book a rating of Four Stars. This means I think it is good.

Here is my book review.

Well worth reading for anyone who wants to grow their company

This is an important book that looks at why so many small businesses get stuck between the £500,000 and £1 million level of sales and what has to be done to make the transition into becoming a gazelle company with a consistent high growth rate that continues year after year.

Basically it can be summed up by the phrase “what got you here, won’t get you there.” [continue reading…]

This is a review of

“Genghis Khan Guide to Business” by Brian Charles John Warnes.

Who Should Read This Book

  1. Every qualified accountant without extensive business experience at finance director/controller/chief financial officer level.
  2. Every business owner and entrepreneur.
  3. Every managing director or chief executive who is responsible for the profit and cash performance of a business and who doesn’t have complete confidence in his or her finance director or CFO.

How I Was Introduced To The Book

After I passed the final exams to be a chartered accountant, I was given this book to read by one of the partners in my accountancy firm who had returned to the profession after working in industry for many years. I was told that I’d learn how finance really worked in the real world, away from all the fancy theories I’d learnt to for the exams. [continue reading…]
