Here is my book review.
A very nice guide to AdWords but it was published in 2012
This is a classy book about Google AdWords which does a great job of explaining how pay per click advertising works and how you can bend the system to work in your favour. [continue reading…]

Good 2016 guide to AdWords but already out of date
This book is written by two Duct Tape Marketing consultants (Duct Tape Marketing is an excellent book or small business owners ).
Although it was published in 2016, Google have made significant changes in the way the ads are shown (no right hand column ) and they have made the ads themselves significantly larger which puts more emphasis on copywriting. [continue reading…]

Getting the Most Out of Pay-Per-Click Ads for Small Business Owners in 2016 and Beyond
In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it 3 Stars.
Here is my review.
Ambitious review of various PPC methods
This is a more substantial book than many of the low cost or Kindle Unlimited books available.
Its broad scope is its downfall because it is hard to do justice to the many different networks. More details are given to Google Adwords, Facebook and Twitter than some of the others. [continue reading…]

A short intro to AdWords but you need much more
I’ve no idea how the author has the nerve to claim this short book is the “ultimate guide”. It’s very far from it and only sets up the book for a harsh assessment. [continue reading…]

PPC Made Simple: Strategies For Dominating Google AdWords
In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it Three Stars. This means Worthwhile.
Here is my review.
In its day, this would have been an excellent source of advice but it urgently needs an update
Many of the low cost or free to read with a Kindle Unlimited subscription are skimpy and miss of much but this used to be the real deal. Not perfect but very good.
The problem is that it was written in 2010 and 2011 according to the copyright at the beginning of the book. PPC through Google Adwords has changed significantly since then and the social media networks have also become major drivers of traffic. [continue reading…]

Packed with sensible advice on how to improve your SEO in a Google friendly way.
This is a very good book about search engine optimisation and the importance of following Google’s guidelines both to the letter and to their spirit.
The author tells how SEO used to be easy in the good old days before the Panda and Penguin crackdowns because someone in the know could take the steps needed to get onto the first page of Google with relative ease and with effort get into the top spots for all but the most popular phrases. The Justification Point: What Stops Your Customers From Buying Online and How to Change It – NOW!
In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it 3 Stars.
Here is my review.
A summary of the things that matter when selling online but not the interesting concept I’d expected
I like the idea of a “justification point” which the author describes as the “exact moment when the scale is tipped and your customer actually makes the purchase.”
Sadly the book wasn’t as good or as focused as I wanted. The subtitle of the book is “What Stops Your Customers From Buying Online and How to Change It” and therefore I was expecting a list of reasons why customers look at a webpage and decide to click away rather than move forward. A very good introduction to the issues of local search engine optimisation
This book presents a choice if you have a local business and want it to be found easily on the Internet:
- Pay an SEO consultant between $1,000 and $2,500 to do the necessary work for you; or
- Do it yourself (or delegate to a trusted employee) provided you “have an additional 10-15 hours per month (maybe more in the beginning) to put towards this process”.
