E-Myth Mastery by Michael Gerber

The full title of this book by Michael Gerber is

E-Myth Mastery: The Seven Essential Disciplines for Building a World-Class Company“.

In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book Four Stars. This means that it is Good and Well Worth Reading.

Here is my book review.

Be very careful with this book

The sloppy writing style that Michael Gerber showed in E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It is exaggerated in this book.

It’s written in two parts:

  • The initial stomach churning section that forms the basis of the audio book – avoid at all costs.
    .
  • The second part, which includes sections from the expensive E Myth coaching course, is very good. However I’m disappointed to read that the worksheets quickly became unavailable on the website link as this does reduce the value of these sections.

One of my favourite ideas from “The E Myth Revisited” book by Michael Gerber is how you can live your life intentionally by designing your business to play its full role in your life with your primary aim and strategic objective.

You’ll find this idea of being intentional cropping up regularly in my writing and the ideas I like.

You decide what you want to happen and then creatively think about how you can make it happen.

How To Be An Intentional Business Owner

First you have to start by taking a good look at what you personally want to achieve in your life and you do that in a process which Michael Gerber calls your Primary Aim.

Only when you know what you want to achieve in your personal life, can you start to consider the role your business has in your life.

Many small business entrepreneurs get this the wrong way around. [continue reading…]

Your Primary Aim Answers The Big Questions In Your Life

I first read book, The E Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber and encountered his ideas on the Primary Aim when I decided to focus my consultancy and coaching business away from big businesses and towards business owners and entrepreneurs.

This introduced me to the idea that the business owner has a unique opportunity to design and build a business that can help deliver the perfect life.

It’s an opportunity many business owners never think about so they never get to grips with designing a business that really works for them.

Your Primary Aim

Your primary aim answers the question of what you want to do in your time on earth. [continue reading…]

The E Myth Revisited by Michael E Gerber

Book Review – 5 Stars

I believe this book, “The E Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work And What To Do About It” is a must read for every business owner and entrepreneur.

I don’t think you’ll enjoy it but there are some key lessons.

What Is All The Fuss About With The E Myth Revisited?

Several people recommended this book by Michael Gerber to me and when I first read it I didn’t get it.

The style of writing didn’t suit me.

I couldn’t empathise with the story of Sarah and her business All About Pies.

I didn’t want to help turn a client’s business into the McDonald’s of their industry. And I don’t think they want that either.

The writing is soppy and sentimental when I prefer hard nosed, content rich, practical business books.

The E Myth Revisited didn’t tell me “how” to change a business for the better. [continue reading…]

Michael Gerber’s Dreaming Room® Experience

I was talking to one of my Guerrilla Marketing coaching buddies the other day and I was explaining how pleased I was with the email feedback I was receiving from this blog.

Tina clicked over to this blog and said “I see that you are a fan of Michael Gerber. Would you like to go to one of his Dreaming Rooms?”

“But Tina, I’ve already been. I went to to the Dreaming Room® at London Heathrow in October 2006.”

Let me start to tell you what I told her. [continue reading…]

in Business Start-Ups

“Paul, how will you start to improve my business?” is a question I’m often asked when I first meet a prospective client.

I explain that “improve” is a very wide concept.

It all depends on what you (as the business owner) want to do with your business, and in particular the role that you want your business to play in your life.

Your Primary Aim

The best item I’ve read on this is Chapter 12 “Your Primary Aim” of The E Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber. [continue reading…]
