How you can grow past the normal constraints on growth

This is an interesting book which looks at how you can push past the constraints which stop most businesses from growing.

It’s split into four sections – people, strategy, execution and cash.

I started reading it and throughout the People section, I was convinced this was going to be a five star book but, the more I read, the more I was tempted to knock off one star. [continue reading…]

Plenty of ideas to increase sales and profit

This is a good summary of how to improve the results of a business that draws on the ideas of many well known “gurus”.

If you’ve read many small business success books, I don’t think it will include much that’s new to you but, even so, it is a good reminder of what you should be doing.

A good, practical book on business growth

There are quite a few profit improvement books with similar titles but different approaches.

A helpful guide focused on profit improvement.

This is the second time I’ve bought this book. I remembered it as a helpful guide but I couldn’t find my original copy.

This one is in a slightly different format. The book print size is smaller meaning the dimensions of the book can be trimmed. Personally I wish they hadn’t done it because it has made the book harder to read and the margin between the print and the binding is tighter than I’d like. [continue reading…]

In my review posted of

Go Forth & Multiply: 7 Day Profit Boosting Plan

by Robert Mark Hurn posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it Three Stars.

Here is my review.

The contents is much better than the feel of the book

The worst part of this book is its feel. It’s been self published and the author has used a company that seems to have a different binding technique. It’s hard to describe but it’s one of those books that you expect the pages to fall out if you read it much or if the spine gets broken.

The book itself has plenty of pages for notes and personal pledges to try to turn it into a workbook. Good intentions but it also pads out the contents over more pages. I doubt many people will use these pages as intended because of the binding issue. [continue reading…]
