The Psychology of Success: Wantpower Versus Willpower
In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book Four Stars. This means it is Good and Well Worth Reading.
Here is my book review.
This is a very short book that takes about 20 minutes to read.
It argued that we’ve been taught the wrong lessons to achieve success. We’re urged to work hard, be self disciplined etc to strive for what we want.
Another problem is that we’re not clear on what we want. We have vague dreams and fantasies of what it would be like to be rich.
These have no motivational power to encourage each of us to take actions.
Motivation is the key. It is motivated people who succeed. Motivated people who are able to push through the difficulties that stand in the way if what you really want.
This is easy to read and clearly explains why “want” or “burning desire” is so important.
It then gives tips on how you can strengthen your want.
However what it doesn’t do is to provide tips on how you can find the want that’s going to motivate your life.
I think answering the question “what do you want” is tough. I’d recommend you get clear on what you don’t want first. Write down the things you want to eliminate or avoid. It will help clear your mind.
Three or four stars? I decided on four stars because I think it’s going to make you want to know more about how you can find your want, perhaps even a life purpose.
It isn’t the complete answer but I think that’s a pretty powerful start for a book that takes 20 minutes to read.Business Books Reviews by Paul Simister (Please click). I've also narrowed these down to a list of the 12 Best Business Books For Business Owners & Entrepreneurs (Please click).
