Necessary rebuttal

t saddens me that this book had to be written.

The original Spirit Level book showed that inequality of income and wealth was at the root of society’s ills once income reached a reasonable level. After that equality mattered more than pushing up the average GDP per person statistic. [continue reading…]

It’s time to be scared… very scared

This is an excellent book about the current economic climate of exceptional action by central bankers with quantitative easing and the suppression of interest rates.

It’s written in a very easy to read and understand style and will help anyone gain a better understanding of how the economic situation could play out. [continue reading…]

Excellent lesson on effective diversification because of economic uncertainties

I was introduced to the idea of the Permanent Portfolio by a magazine article and I wanted to know more so I bought the book.

It sounds strange but I found it hard to put down as I finally had the nagging doubts I had about diversification erased from my brain. [continue reading…]

Great ideas to help you to boost your revenue by doing good for your customers

Mitch Axelrod has been one of my mentors for about five years and I have a great empathy with how he believes customer relationships should be developed.

Many years ago, a long term client asked me “what selling system or sales techniques do you use?”

I replied “I help people to buy if I believe that I can really help them to achieve their goals.” [continue reading…]

Crash Proof 2.0 by Peter Schiff

Crash Proof 2.0: How To Profit From The Economic Collapse by Peter D. Schiff

Book Review Rating – 4.5 Stars

Peter Schiff is an American economist and investment manager who believes in the Austrian economic theories and predicted the real estate crash that came close to ruining the world’s economic systems in September 2008.

But he expected the problem in America to be much worse than we’ve seen so far.

The format of Crash Proof 2.0 is interesting. You get the chance to read:

  1. His original thoughts that were published in 2006.
  2. His updated thoughts after the real estate crash that were written in 2009. [continue reading…]

Your Business Blueprint by Rich Schefren

Your Business Blueprint by Rich Schefren

Book Review  4.5 Stars

Your Business Blueprint is the first Founders Club report and pdf written by Rich Schefren. This is the master-plan for you to design your business.

Let me emphasise three of those words.

Design Your Business

While business owners are encouraged to create business plans, the thinking is often at a level that is too superficial. The plan is written to convince the bank manager to give you the loan or overdraft you want. It doesn’t dig deep into how you can create a business model to create the right business for you.

The right business for you is one that gives you the lifestyle you want in your private life.

Too often businesses evolve, step by step, one decision at a time.

Profits Aren’t Everything, They’re the Only Thing: No-Nonsense Rules from the Ultimate Contrarian and Small Business Guru by George Cloutier

Business Book Review Rating – 5 Stars

There is nothing in this book that makes me think that author George Cloutier is a nice, warm, cuddly sort of man who I’d want to have a few drinks with one night for light-hearted, amusing company.

To be blunt, he’ comes across as a hard-nosed, business b*stard with ideas from 100 years ago.

He also might just be one of the few people who could rescue and restore your business to profitability if your life depended on it.

I loved the book, even if I didn’t agree with everything. It grabs you by the shoulders and gives you a good hard shake.

His views are so strident that they force you to think about why you are right and he is wrong. In doing so, you might discover that he is right and you are wrong.

I consider it as essential reading for all small business owners and entrepreneurs who are finding business success a struggle to achieve.

The Basic Message Of Profits Aren’t Everything [continue reading…]

The Brain Audit By Sean D’Souza – 5 Stars

The Brain Audit : Why Customers Buy
(And Why They Don’t) by Sean D’Souza

Book Review rating – 5 Stars

The Brain Audit by Sean D’Souza is an excellent book about creating a compelling sales message that appeals to your buyers brains without resorting to sleazy tactics.

The Red Bags Metaphor

At the beginning of the book, Sean sets up his copywriting system with a powerful metaphor.

Imagine going to the airport with seven bags and checking them in. You get on the flight and land. After passport control you make your way to the luggage carousel or conveyor belt.

Sean’s question is…

“When do you walk away?” [continue reading…]
