Influence! by Dan Lok

The full title of this book by Dan Lok is

Influence!: 47 Forbidden Psychological Tactics You Can Use To Motivate, Influence and Persuade Your Prospect“.

In my review at Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book a Four Stars rating. This means it is considered as good to very good.

Here is my book review.

A well written book about psychological marketing tactics

This is a good, easy to read book about marketing psychology and tactics which can make your Internet sales copy more effective.

Don’t worry about the hypey subtitle, “forbidden psychological tactics”. There’s not much here that seems particularly manipulative. Just the kinds of things that you should be doing including essentials like offering strong guarantees and carrying out market research to understand your customers better. The book does mention embedded commands from the NLP field which may be straying into the under-the-counter type methods that you don’t want seen but it doesn’t tell you how to do them.

It’s lost a star because I felt that the book could have been better organised. As I read some of the tactics, I was getting deja vu from a similar point being made earlier. The nuances were different but the points were related and I feel that they’d have been better closer together and with a reference from one to the other. I’d have also liked the tactics to be grouped in sections to make it easier to go back when you want to put the tactics into action. For example, some tactics are designed to increase desire within the prospective customer, others are designed to make your offer more credible and trustworthy.

The author has extra resources available if you provide good feedback so I’m just about to see if promises made are fulfilled. I’ll report back.

The author has published other books and I want to read some of them. My next stop is to download Advertising Titans! Vol 1: Insiders Secrets From The Greatest Direct Marketing Entrepreneurs and Copywriting Legends.

This book is available to buy from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.
