The Beermat Entrepreneur by Mike Southan and Chris West

The full title of this book by Mike Southan and Chris West is

The Beermat Entrepreneur: Turn Your Good Idea Into A Great Business“.

In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I rated the book at the Four Stars level. This means I think it is Good and Well Worth Reading.

Here is my book review.

This book lays down a path for aspiring entrepreneurs to build a big business.

That last bit of the sentence is important. This is not a book for someone who wants to build a nice small business with a steady income.

The book divides into three main sections which represent distinct phases in the life of the business:

1 – The seedling enterprise
2 – The sapling enterprise
3 – The mighty oak

By the time the business gets into that third stage, the original entrepreneur is bored and wants to move to the next challenge. It’s therefore essential that a management team capable of taking over has been built in stage 2 by recruiting the four cornerstones.

This is a good book that shows the path to building a big business. At only 148 pages it contains good practical advice rather than complex management theory. It is easy to read and presents one way to build a business although you may fight against some of the ideas like the equal shares for the entrepreneur and four cornerstones.

It is available to buy from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com. There is also a second edition at Amazon.co.uk.
