The full title of this book by Drayton Bird is
“51 Helpful Marketing Ideas: Simple, tested, yet often neglected ideas guaranteed to improve results“.
In my review on Amazon.co.uk, I gave the book a rating of Four Stars. This means I consider it to be good to very good.
Here is my book review.
Interesting book badly let down by Kindle formatting
Drayton Bird is the British copywriter who can stand shoulder to shoulder with the American greats but his ideas are more in tune with our sensibilities.
In this book he shares helpful ideas. You may have heard most of them before but do you regularly put them into practice?
I’d love to say that it’s a joy to read. The words from the author are informative and entertaining but he’s been badly let down by whoever formatted the book for Kindle. We have words that have capital letters in the middle, lines broken, images that are tiny but, if you try to expand them, they are too blurred to read.
Most irritating of all is that there is a summary of the main issues after each idea. This is normally good practice but in every space between words, there is a bold, black square that takes the eye away from the word written in grey.
The book also lacks structure. Each idea reads like a blog post, separate and distinct to itself. This isn’t a “how to write great advertising” book so it’s much better as a refresher when you’ve read a few others than as a starter.
It is available to buy from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.
