16 Formulas that Convince by Abagail Pumphrey and Emylee Williams

The full title of this book by Abagail Pumphrey and Emylee Williams is

16 Formulas that Convince & 101 Headlines that Convert Readers to Leads

In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave it 3 Stars.

Here is my review.

A short book about advertising headlines

I was slightly confused by the book title because I thought the 16 formulas to convince were going to be copywriting formulas like AIDA (attention + interest + desire + action ).

Instead they are formulas for headlines so I’d argue they were headlines to attract since there’s still a great deal to do to convince. The second part is a set of headlines for different types of business.

What’s there is fine but it would have been better to explain why the headlines do their job by attracting attention. Some of the examples were a stretch for the formulas too. Strangely I might have given the examples first and then shown how the formulas were derived to help understanding because it’s too passive a read at the moment.

I grabbed the kindle book when it was free so I didn’t mind that there is a pitch to join an email list at the start and end. I didn’t bite because, based on language, I’m not in the customer profile they want to attract.
