Other Business Books

I have two categories for books on my blogs, the best books with 5 star and 4 star ratings and other books with the rest.

This is the page with “the rest”.

The truth is that I had originally only planned to bring the reviews of the best business books from Amazon to my blog but then I found myself wanting to refer to these other books I’d reviewed.

With the best business books, I have created separated categories to help you to find the best books by subject, for example the best business strategy books, the best marketing books etc.

With these other books, which I’m not recommending, I haven’t done that although they do feature within the subject categories. For example, books about business turnaround appear with all my other articles about business turnaround.

This is what he says…

“It’s a lighter introductory to Jay Abraham, designed and intended to stimulate entrepreneurs unfamiliar with me and my work to seek more of our products, programs, services — due to the exciting realizations the book quickly brings out.

While not as deep as the other two, it is an excellent fast-track review of my body of work and might stimulate YOU to want more/deeper access to our products.”

He also warns there are promotional elements in this book which are absent from the other two.

My Thoughts

I haven’t read it yet but I can tell you:

  1. Jay Abraham has been a major influence on my thinking about business growth, opportunities for profit and marketing.
  2. His book “Getting Everything You Can…” is one of the books I recommend all business owners read.
  3. This is the book which, on first sight, appeals to me most. My knowledge of Jay Abraham will go far beyond the elements in this book but it’s always useful to read an overview which lets you see the jigsaw puzzle put back together.

  1. Jay Abraham has been a major influence on my thinking about business growth, opportunities for profit and marketing.
  2. His book “Getting Everything You Can…” is one of the books I recommend all business owners read.
  3. This seems very suitable for business owners who feel stuck because the business is struggling. I’m not so keen on the “rough draft” issue but it’s very relevant to people who read my blog.

How much? That’s ridiculous

It was hard rating this legendary report on Internet marketing at the 3 stars level but let me explain my rating.

1 Star for anyone trying to charge £396 for a printed version of this promotional report. It was available online for free for 10 or more years as a PDF. It’s not worth it at these prices.

5 Stars for the original impact the report had on Internet marketers in general and on me in particular.

Back in the mid 2000s, Internet marketing was often promoted as an easy way to make big money. Thinking back, this was strange when there seemed to be new, essential to know techniques coming out every few weeks. [continue reading…]

Useful but doesn’t live up to the proposition made in the subtitle

I’m fascinated by copywriting and as a business coach who helps business owners who are stuck and struggling, the sales copy on their websites, any emails and the rest of their marketing usually presents opportunities for big improvements.

I read a lot of copywriting books, some to increase my knowledge and others looking for books I can recommend to time poor business owners. The subtitle of the book made me think this could be suitable for me to recommend. [continue reading…]

The metaphor got tedious for me as someone not interested in fishing

I’ve come across fishing as a metaphor for selling a few times. It’s one I think works well and I’ve even used it myself to explain why you need to sub-divide your market to create marketing which is more likely to create enquiries from customers.

It’s easy to understand you need to decide which type of fish you want to catch first before doing whatever is necessary to catch the fish. You have to look in the right place, you have to use the right bait and you need the skills to tempt the fish to bite and then land the fish. [continue reading…]

Here is my book review.

Be very careful with this book.

I pre-ordered this book, mainly from the title and subtitle, because I had my business and career turned upside down by a series of health problems. I’ve also worked with people who have had serious health setbacks.

Unfortunately the book starts with the author’s life story. This seems indulgent. At this stage, I don’t care about her or want to know this much about her younger years. I know that sounds mean and it is a sad story but unfortunately, too many children have difficult upbringings. If I had tried the kindle sample, I’d have given up early and not bothered with the book. [continue reading…]

Nice idea, disappointing delivery

I thought this was a very good idea but, as soon as I opened the kindle book, I realised there is a problem. It’s not in the normal kindle format but instead, a two page pdf style book in landscape format. This has the advantage of presenting the diagrams and images fairly well but the disadvantage that the text was a little too small to read easily and I couldn’t highlight sentences of interest.
