The full title of this book by the founder of the ActionCoach business coaching franchise, Brad Sugars is
“Instant Cashflow: Hundreds of Proven Strategies to Win Customers, Boost Margins and Take More Money Home“.
In my review posted on Amazon.co.uk, I gave this book Four Stars. This means it is Good and Well Worth Reading.
Here is my review.
In my opinion, this is the only Brad Sugars book worth buying. Do you agree?
This is the only Brad Sugars book that I recommend to any of my business coaching clients or prospects.
It’s a long list of ideas for improving your business in terms of sales revenue, profit and ultimately cash flow.
As a book for helping you to realise that you haven’t tried “everything” (or anywhere close), it’s very useful.
It’s structured around the ActionCoach “Business Chassis” so it goes through many different ways to:
- generate leads,
- convert leads,
- increase transactions values,
- increase the number of times customers buy and
- increase profit margins.
This is a fairly standard approach, as it is a derivation of Jay Abraham’s Three Ways To Grow A Business but you will probably be surprised by how many different ways there are to improve these profit drivers.
Whilst I would encourage you to master a few ideas rather than spread your efforts too widely and end up doing too many things not very well, you may not yet have found the marketing methods that best suit you and your customers.
Where the book falls down is that the information given about the ideas is brief and is not enough for you to implement the techniques.
This is, of course, deliberate as Sugars wants you to be impressed enough to go off and find an ActionCoach to help.
If you’ve read any of these books, you’ll know that they are heavily promotional. However other business coaches are available and the Internet is useful to help you to fill out the ideas.
Another warning, the sub-title of the book is a better guide to the contents than the main title. If you have a cash flow problem in your business and you want to understand how to forecast your cash balances going forward, speed up collection from debtors and extend payments to suppliers, this isn’t the book you need.
Finally the book needs to be updated. Much has changed since the book was first published in 2006, especially with the Internet and social media.
I thought about downgrading the rating, from 4 stars to 3, but I still feel the book offers plenty of good ideas. Sometimes, when you’re feeling stuck, you need more options and the book has plenty.
The other Brad Sugar books in my opinion range from OK to poor and there are usually better books available in each of the specialist areas.
You may have read elsewhere that these books are often pimped up the ratings by (undeclared) associates and franchisees so let me be clear, I am not and never have been an ActionCoach. I am a competitor who was interested to learn what this franchise had to offer to small business owners.
